A field experiment was conductec at Satkhira, Kapasia and Bakergonj to conjunctive use of water resources in the study area; to develop appropriate water management technologies for increasing crop production, cropping intensity, irrigation efficiency,  land and water productivity for improved livelihood; and to identify water resources management technologies to mitigate consequences of climate change. From the survey it was revealed that six major crops were grown by the farmers in Satkhira (sadar upazila) site. These were: T. Aman, Boro, Mustard, Jute, Potato and Wheat. In Gazipur (Kapasia upazila) site, five major crops were grown (T. Aman, Boro, Sugarcane, Lentil and Jute). In Barisal (Bakerganj upazila)  site, six major crops were grown (L. Aman, L. Aus, HYV Aman,   HYV Aus, Boro and Grasspea). Based on the field survey report, in Satkhira three top ranking cropping patterns were T. Aman - Boro – Fallow, T. Aman – Mustard – Jute and T. Aman – Potato/Wheat – Jute, in Gazipur, T. Aman - Boro – Fallow, Sugarcane – Lentil and T. Aman – Lentil– Jute and in Barisal area, L. Aman – Fallow – L. Aus,  HVAman– Grasspea – HYV Aus and L. Aman – Boro – Fallow. In Satkhira, the highest rice equivalent yield was 28.8 t/ha and obtained from T. Aman-Potato- Jute cropping pattern. In Kapasia, the highest rice equivalent yield was 22.0 t/ha and obtained from Sugarcane-Lentil cropping pattern. In Bakergonj, the highest rice equivalent yield was 8.8 t/ha and obtained from HYV Aman – Grasspea – HYV Aus cropping pattern. Similar rice equivalent yield (8.7 t/ha) was also obtained from L. Aman-Boro- Fallow cropping pattern. In Satkhira, highest gross margin is obtained from T. Aman-Potato-Jute (Tk. 80,524 per hectare) pattern. In Kapasia, highest gross margin is obtained from Sugarcane-Lentil (Tk. 116,823 per hectare) pattern. In Bakergonj, highest gross margin is obtained from HYV Aman-Grasspea-HYV Aus (Tk. 41,682 per hectare) pattern.  The highest BCR is obtained from T. Aman-Mustard-Jute pattern (1.35), Sugarcane-Lentil pattern (1.71) and HYV Aman-Grasspea-HYV Aus pattern (1.36) in Satkhira, Kapasia and Bakergonj, respectively.
