The experiment was conducted at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Jamalpur and Ishwardi during rabi 2013-2014 to determine the seed rate and effect of walking ways in the relay crop of pea with aman rice. The result revealed that the treatment S3 (100 kg seed ha-1) gave the highest pod and fodder yield which was followed by S2 (85 kg seed ha-1) in both the location. Path facilities produced the higher yield than control but there were no significant differences. None of the variable did not differ significantly due to the combined effect of seed rate and path facilities. Maximum gross margin (Tk 90,750 ha-1) was obtained at Jamalpur and  from the treatment combination S2 × W1 with the highest BCR (3.20).

To develop appropriate management package for relay cropping of pea with T. aman.

The experiment was conducted at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Jamalpur and Ishwardi during rabi 2013-2014 to determine the seed rate with or without path facilities during the harvesting of field pea variety suitable for relay cropping in the aman + pea- boro rice cropping pattern.  The three seed rates (70 kg ha-1, 85 kg ha-1 and 100 kg ha-1) were assigned in the main plot while path facilities (15 cm path and control) were assigned in the sub-plot as a treatment. Unit plot size was 5m × 4m. Seeds were sown on 11 November 2013 in both the field in Broadcast method before 10 days of T.aman harvest as relay crop. T.aman was harvested leaving 30-35 cm straw height from ground level. No weeding was done during the whole crop growing period. Pods were harvested at different dated on the basis of pod maturity as a green pod. Pods were harvested at 95-100 and 110-115 days after sowing only 2-3 days keeping in hand preparing the land for boro transplantation. Ten plants were selected randomly from each plot before harvest of crop to record data on yield attributes while Pod yield was collected on the Whole plot basis at different day’s interval when bearing pod was matured as a green pod. Collected data were analyzed statistically and mean separation was done as per LSD test at 5% level of significance.

1.   Budget:

Among the seed rates maximum crop characters were found significant for both the locations except plant height at Ishurdi and branches per plant and number of seed per pod at Jamalpur. The highest pod and fodder yield 4.50 tha-1 & 5.10 tha-1 at Jamalpur 6.91 tha-1 and 6.0 t ha-1  at Ishurdi were found  in 100 kg/ha seed rate ,respectively which were identical  to 85 kg/ha seed rate and the lowest one was found from 70 kg/ha for both the locations.Pod  and fodder yield were increased with the increasing of plant population may be due to higher seed rate.

Effect of Path facilities: The results revealed that all the variables did not differ significantly between the Path facilities for both the locations. But numerically the highest pod and fodder yield 4.36 t ha-1 & 5.15 t ha-1  at Jamalpur 5.99 t ha-1 and 5.44 t ha-1  at Ishurdi  were obtained  by walking way ,respectively and the lowest were found  in control for both the locations.

Interaction effect of seed rate and path facilities: The result exerted that none of the variable did not differ significantly due to the interaction of seed rate and path facilities for both the locations. But numerically the highest pod and fodder yield 4.79 t ha-1 & 5.56 t ha-1 at Jamalpur 7.03 t ha-1 and 6.70t ha-1 at Ishurdi, respectively  were obtained  by the interaction of seed rate 100 kg/ha (S3) with walking way (W1) and the lowest were found  in  the interaction of 70 kg/ha seed rate (S1)  and control for both the locations(W2).

In conclusion 85-100 kg seed ha-1 with walking way after 2 m during 35-40 DAE is effective for pea cultivation as green pod and fodder. This technology is also can be used within the fallow period of T.aman-boro cropping pattern in the Char land areas of Jamalpur region and for other region within the period of aman-aus rice/Jute/Mungbean/Sesame. This technology can be validate and upscaling in the farmers field.
