A field experiment was conducted at RARS, Rahmatpur, Barisal during Rabi season of 2013-14 to evaluate the performance of lentil genotypes/lines for searching of high yielding and Stemphylium blight disease resistant variety. Three entries viz. BD-6002, BD-3837 and BD-3926 and 2 varieties of lentil were used following RCBD with three replications. Results revealed that all the lines statistically different among the genotypes. The average Stemphylium blight disease ranged from 1.50–3.33. The highest Stemphylium blight disease was observed in BARImasur-1 followed by BD-3926 and lowest in BD-6002. The average yield ranged from 1201.50 –1639.50. The highest yield was observed in BD-6002 followed by BARImasur-7 and BD-3837 and and low Stemphylium blight disease. The lowest yield (1201.50kg/ha) was recorded in BARImasur-1 followed by BD-3926. So, the line BD-6002 and BD-3837 were selected and will be  handover to Pulse breeder for next year PYT program.

To find out the resistant/tolerant source of lentil germplasm against stemphylium blight and to find out the yield attribute of different lentil germplasm

A field experiment was conducted at RARS, Rahmatpur, Barisal during Rabi season of 2013-14 to evaluate the performance of lentil genotypes/var. for searching of high yielding and Stemphylium blight disease resistant variety. Three entries of lentil (out of 200 lines, 22 entries were selected from 1st year and out of 22 lines, 04 lines were selected from 2nd year) viz. BD-3926, BD-6002, BD-3837 and two check variety BARImasur-1 and BARImasur-7 were evaluated in the trial. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications. The plot size was 2 X 3 m2 and spacing was 30 cm x 10 cm. Seeds were sown in the rows carefully by hands and covered it by soils on 20-11-2013. Two weeding were done at 25 days and 45 days after sowing. The crop was harvested within March 02, 2014 to March 6, 2014. Data on yield contributing characters were recorded from 10 randomly selected plants from each plot. Data on disease and severity for Stemphylium blight disease was recorded three times on the basis of a 0-5 point scoring scale adopted from Bakr and Ahmed (1992), Bakr et al. (2000). Grain yield (Kg/ha) was recorded from the whole plot. Data were analyzed statistically by using MSTAT-C.

The tested lentil variety/genotypes differ significantly from one to another in respect of disease, yield and contributing characters under field condition. Days to 1st flowering ranged from 48.33-51.00. The highest days to 1st flowering was observed in BD-6002 and BD-3837 and lowest was in BARImasur-1. Days to 50% flowering ranged from 56.00–59.00. The highest days to 50% flowering was observed in BD-6002 and lowest in BARImasur-1. Plant height ranged from 32.40-38.07. The highest plant height was observed in BARImasur-1and lowest in BD-6002. No. of branch/plant ranged from 2.80 –3.40. The highest No. of branch/plant was observed in BD-6002 and BARImasur-7 and lowest in BARImasur-1. No. of pods/plant ranged from 95.40 –139.5. The highest No. of pods/plant was observed in BARImasur-7 and BARImasur-1.The highest 100 seed weight was observed in BD-3926 followed by BARImasur-7 and lowest in BARImasur-1. The average Stemphylium blight disease ranged from 1.50–3.33. The highest Stemphylium blight disease was observed in BARImasur-1 followed by BD-3926 and lowest in BD-6002. The average yield ranged from 1201.50 –1639.50 (Table 7). The highest yield was observed in BD-6002 followed by BARImasur-7and BD-3837 and lowest in BARImasur-1.

From the findings of the present study of last three years it was observed that the line BD-6002 gave the highest yield (1639.50 kg/ha) followed by BD-3837 (1479.50 kg/ha) and moderately resistant to Stemphylium blight disease. The lowest yield (1201.50 kg/ha) was recorded in BARImasur-1 followed by BD-3926. So, the line BD-6002 and BD-3837 were selected and  will be handover to Pulse breeder for next year PYT program.
