A study was carried out in the farmers' field of MLT site, Puthia, Rajshahi during rabi 2011-12 to know the effect of different fertilizer packages on the productivity of crops in the Wheat-Mungbean-T.aman cropping pattern in High Ganges River Flloodplain. There were eight treatments in the study ie., T1: 100% NPKSZnB (HYG); T2: T1 + 25%N; T3: T1 +25% NP; T4: T1 + 25%NK; T5: T1 + 25%PK; T6: T1 25 NPK; T7: 75% of T1 and T8: control (without any nutrient). Among the crops in the sequence of first year, only wheat cultivation was completed. The use of higher doses of STB packages T2 to T6 produced the maximum and similar grain yield of wheat ranging front 4.26 t ha-1 to 4.51 t ha-1. The minimum one was produced in native T8 (1.54 t ha-1). Similarly, greater straw yields ranging from 4.40 t ha-1 to 4.79 t ha-1 were obtained in the treatments T1 to T6.

To develop a fertilizer recommendations for wheat-mungbean-T.aman cropping pattern in AEZ-11.

The experiment was conducted at the farmers' field of multilocation testing (MLT) site, Shibpur, Puthia, Rajshahi during 2011-12 to develop a cropping pattern based fertilizer dose for Wheat-Mungbean-T.aman in High Ganges River Flood Plain (AEZ-11) soils. Geographical the experimental field is located at 24°22.98' latitude N and 88°46.41' E longitude with the height of 21 m above the sea level. The soil series of the experiment was Sara and Gopalpur with the color was pale brown and the texture was silty loam. After selection of cooperator farmers composite soil samples were collected at the depth of 0-15 cm and chemically analyzed at Soil Resources Development Institute (SRDI) laboratory, Shyampur, Rajshahi. The soil was slightly alkaline (pH:7.8-8.4) having low organic matter (1.81%). The soil contained 0.08% total N, 16.4 ppm available P, 0.20 me% exchangeable K, 13.63 ppm available S, 0.50 ppm available Band 0.20 ppm available Zn. The trial was started with wheat and it was harvested. Now second crop, mungbean is at the pod setting stage in the trial. The levels of the fertilizers were calculated using soil test values based on high yield goal (HYG) as per Fertilizer Recommendation Guide' 2005. The experiment was comprised of eight treatments and laid out in a randomized complete block design with eight dispersed replications. The layout of the plots was kept constant for the following crop. The unit plot size was 5m x 4m. The field of wheat was prepared by power tiller and followed by laddering. The treatments were - T1: 100% NPKSZnB (HYG); T2: T1 + 25%N; T3: T1 +25% NP; T4: T1 + 25% NK; T5: T1 + 25% PK; T6: T1+ 25% NPK; T7: 75% of T1 and T8: control (native fertility). The sources of nutrients were urea for N, TSP for P, MP for K, Gypsum for S, Zinc sulphate for Zn and Boric acid for B. The lands were fertilized as per treatment specified. For wheat, two third of urea and all other inorganic fertilizers were applied according to individual plot and mixed with soil at the time of final land preparation. The rest urea was top dressed at 17-21 days after sowing (DAS) just one day after first irrigation. Another two irrigations were done at 50-55 and 70-75 DAS. Wheat seeds were sown continuously in 20 cm line to line distance. Seeds were sown on 29 November 2011 to 5 December 2011. BARI Gom 24 (Prodip) was used as wheat variety. The seed rate was used 140 kg ha-1. Affinity, a weedicide, was sprayed 4-6 days after first irrigation to control broad leaf weeds at the rate of 2 g L-1 water. Roughing and other intercultural operation were done in order to support normal plant growth. The crop was harvested at maturity on 25-28 March 2012. Data on yield and yield contributing characters were recorded. For yield data, wheat was harvested from an area of central 5 m2 at maturity for grain and straw yields. Observations were made on yield components from 10 randomly selected plants per plot. All the data were statistically analyzed following the F-test and the mean comparisons were made by DMRT at 5% level .

From the experiment it is revealed that wheat perform better soil test based nutrient packages for high yield goal (100% recommended dose) and do not response further incremental levels.
