Effects of different chemotherapeutics were examined against naturally infected climbing perch Anabas testudineus. The experiment was carried out during 1st April to 15th April, 2014. Naturally diseased fish were collected from different places of Mymensingh region. Before starting chemotherapeutic trial, it was confirmed that the collected diseased fish Anabas testudineus were infected with microorganisms by clinical diagnosis in laboratory condition. Infected Anabas testudineus showed haemorrhages and ulcerative lesions over the body, especially near head and caudal region, and dark body coloration. A total of 9 diseased fish having average body weight of 30 g were used for the experiment. Four chemotherapeutics: oxytetracycline, potassium permanganate, malachite green and methylene blue, were used in separate three treatments either singly or in combination with another. Dose of oxytetracycline, potassium permanganate, malachite green and methylene blue used were 200 mg per kg body weight of fish, 20 ppm for bath treatment and 5 ppm for prolonged treatment, 0.15 ppm for prolonged treatment and 0.15 ppm for prolonged treatment, respectively. Malachite green and methylene blue was mainly used to prevent secondary infection caused by fungus. Water was exchanged and artificial feed were supplied regularly. The chemotherapeutic trial was conducted for 15 days. Combined treatment with antibiotic, potassium permanganate, malachite green and methylene blue showed the best result where 100% fish were recovered. Single antibiotic oxytetracycline treatment showed result where 67% fish were recovered. Potassium permanganate, malachite green and methylene blue treated combindly also showed good result where 67% fish were recovered.

i) To know the effect of chemotherapeutics against naturally infection in Anabas testudineus ;
ii) To know the dose, dosage, and methods of their application

Experimental naturally diseased fish: Studies were conducted to investigate, in laboratory condition, the effect of chemotherapeutics against natural infectious diseases in climbing perch Anabas testudineus collected from various places of Mymensingh district. In total 15 naturally diseased fish were collected. Clinical diagnosis of disease: For primary detection of naturally diseased following general clinical symptoms were investigated: l. Presence of any external hemorrhage 2. Presence of any superficial and or ulcerative lesion 3. Darkening of body colour 4. Condition of any exophthalmia 5. Loss or rottening of any fin rays 6. Condition of any scale loss 7. Any cork screw or vertical swimming 8. Any abnormal feeding tendency 9. Any sluggish movement or frequent rest. Acclimatization of fish: The above 15 naturally diseased fish were acclimatized for 3 days in laboratory condition with recirculatory water system. Trials of chemotherapeutics: Trials of chemotherapeutics were conducted in a water circulatory system in the wet laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. Experimental setup: Water circulatory system in the wet laboratory was consisted of 12 rectangular glass aquaria of 40 L capacity, 5 drums, 1 pump and on overhead tank. Water was picked up into the overhead tank by pump. Freshwater from underground deep pump was added to the circulatory system as and when needed to fill up the loss due to evaporation. Chemotherapeuties and their combination in the trial: The following chemotherapeutics were used in this trial. • Antibiotic (Oxytetracycline) • Potassium permanganate (KMnO4) • Malachite green • Methylene blue The trials were conducted in three separate aquaria. Antibiotic treatment was given in two aquaria and rest aquaria were treated with other chemotherapeutics. One aquarium was used to treat with antibiotic, potassium permanganate, malachite green and methylene blue. Aquarium-1 was treatment with antibiotic (Oxytetracycline). Aquarium-2 was treatment with antibiotic, potassium permanganate, malachite green and methylene blue. Aquarium-3 was treatment with potassium permanganate, malachite green and methylene blue. Calculation and application of chemotherapeutics: Calculation and application of chemotherapeutics has been done accordingly by following different formula.
