The efficacy of some new fungicides like Propicarb 70 wp (Propineb 70 wp),  Moen 80 wp (Mancozeb 80 wp), Cibalux 75WP (Mancozeb+Carbendazim 75%WP), Joybun 80 WDG (Mancozeb), Azob 80 WDG (Mancozeb80%), Amazan 32.5 WP (Azoxystrobin + Fenoxanil), SC Double Action 76WP (Propineb 70%+Cymoxanil 6%) and one Bio fungicide (Phytosporin) along with commonly used fungicides viz., Rovral (Ipridione) and Amister top (Asoxytrobin+Difenoconazole)  were tested against the early blight of research field of tomato at Plant Pathology Division, BARI during 2018- 2019 cropping season. The seedlings of BARI tomato -15 were used. Spraying was started immediately after the onset of the disease and a total of four sprays were applied at an interval of 12 days. All fungicide treatments reduced the disease intensity as compared to untreated control. The lowest percentage disease index (14.27) was recorded in `Rovral treatment and the highest (18.73) was observed in Control treatment. Percent disease reduction ranges from 0.69% to 23.81%, while the lowest disease reduction was recorded from SC double action 76 WP and the highest disease reduction was found from Rovral treatment over control. The highest number of fruits (346.67) was found in Rovral treatment which was followed by T4 (Joybun 80 WDG) and T10 (Amister top) treatment and the lowest (304.67) was observed in the control treatment. The highest yield (31 ton/ha) was obtained from Rovral treated plot which was followed by Amister top and Phytosporin treatment where the lowest was recorded from the control treatment.

To determine the efficacies of different fungicides against the early blight of tomato.

The experiment was conducted in the Research field of Plant Pathology division of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Gazipur during the year 2018-19 in rabi seasons for the management of early blight of tomato caused by Alternaria solani . The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. All recommended agronomic practices were followed. Thirty to thirty five days old seedlings of variety BARI tomato-15 were transplanted in the month of December at a distance of 60 cm X 40 cm spacing. Efficacies of ten fungicides with their prefixed concentrations (as per treatments) were compared with untreated control. The fungicides tested in the present investigation were Propicarb 70 wp (propineb 70 wp), Moen 80 wp (Mancozeb 80 wp), Cibalux 75WP (Mancozeb+Carbendazim 75%WP), Joybun 80 WDG (Mancozeb), Azob 80 WDG (Mancozeb80%), Amazan 32.5 WP (Azoxystrobin + Fenoxanil), Double Action 76WP (Propineb 70%+Cymoxanil 6%), Phytosporin, Rovral (Ipridione), Amister top (Asoxytrobin+Difenoconazole) l. Rovral 50WP was used as a standard control. Spraying was started immediately after the onset of disease and a total of four sprays were applied at an interval of 12 days. Insect infestation was controlled by spraying Imitaf @ 0.5 ml/l water. Blight severity was recorded on according to Rahman and Rashid (2008) rating 0 to 5 scales where 0= No disease spot, 1= 1-10 spots/leaf, 2=11-25 spots/leaf, 3= 26-50 spots/leaf, 4= 51-75 spots/leaf and 5= above 75 spots/leaf. Five plants in each plot were randomly selected after 7 days of the last spray for data collection. Percent disease index (PDI) was calculated according to Meah (1994). Mature fruits were picked once or twice a week and fruit number and fruit weight per plant were recorded. Fruit yield was expressed in ton per hectare. All data were analyzed for ANOVA and means of the treatments were compared using R analysis using R software. Hyphal growth inhibition on the growth medium incorporated with fungicide was determined according to the food poisoning method described by Ngono et al. (2000).

From the experimental results, it was observed that Rovral, Amister top and Joybun 80 WDG fungicides effectively reduced the early blight disease of tomato over the Control treatment. Further more study was needed to finalize the new expected fungicide to control the disease.
