A study was carried out at Horticulture Research Center, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Jessore during 2017-18 to develop fertilizer management package for dragon fruit cultivation in Bangladesh. Five packages with different combinations viz; P1 (Urea = 217 g, TSP  500 g M­oP 200 gand 2 kg Manure@ once a month), P2 (Urea 110g, TSP 250g ,M­oP 100g and 2 kg manure @ every 4 months), P3 (Urea 435g, TSP 1 kg and MoP 400 g/2 months), P4 (Urea 435 g, TSP = 1 kg, MoP 400 g/2 months and 5 kg manure @ every 4 months) and P5 (Urea 72 g, TSP 88 g, MoP 40 g /4 months and 20 kg manure/year) were included in the experiment. Initial soil analysis was done. All the parameters under study were varied significantly among the treatments except TSS %. However, the treatment P1 and P4 produced the tallest plant (2.70 m) and the shortest plant was found in the treatment P2 (2.39 m). The highest fruits/pillar was observed maximum (57) in the treatment P1 followed by the treatment P3 (37) and lowest from P5 (9). The longest fruit (8.65 cm) was obtained from the treatment P4 closely followed by the treatment P3 (7.83 cm) and smallest fruit was produced by the treatment P2 (6.18 cm). The fruit diameter was highest in P3 (6.56 cm) and lowest in P2 (5.45 cm). The treatment P2 produced the fruit with the highest edible portion (79.23 %) closely followed by the treatment P3 (71.13 %) while, minimum in P5 (43.60 %). The highest yield (20.28 t/ha) was obtained from the treatment P3 which was closely followed by the treatment P1 (19.41 t/ha) and on the other hand, the lowest yield was recorded in the treatment P5 (1.84 t/ha).

To developing a fertilizer management package for Dragon fruit cultivation in Bangladesh.

The experiment was conducted at Horticultural Research Center, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Jashore during 2017-18. There were five different fertilizer management packages including organic and inorganic fertilizers in the experiment. Five packages with different combination viz; P1 (Urea = 217 g, TSP  500 g, M­oP 200 g/month and 2 kg Manure@ once a month), P2 (Urea 110g, TSP 250g, M­oP 100g/4 months and 2 kg manure @ every 4 months), P3 (Urea 435g, TSP 1 kg/2 months and M­oP 400 g/2 months), P4 (Urea 435 g /2 months, TSP = 1 kg/2 months, M­oP 400 g/2 months and 5 kg manure @ every 4 months) and P5 (Urea 72 g, TSP 88 g, MoP 40 g /4 months and 20 kg manure/year) were included in the experiment. The experiment was laid out in RCB design with three replications. Total plot size was 9.0 m x 15.0 m maintaining 3.0 m x 3.0 m pillar to pillar distance. Land was fertilized with Vermicompost, Urea, TSP and MoP in accordance of the management packages. The mature cuttings of dragon fruit were planted on the field on 27 October 2014 and the management packages were started to apply to the plot from October 2015. Before the application of the packages initial soil analysis was done. Weeding, irrigation and other intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. For controlling the fungal diseases dithan-M-45 @ 2g/liter of water and for controlling ants Sevin @ 2g/liter of water were applied. Fruiting was started from November 2015 but in all the pillars plants did not started flowering. Therefore, from April 2016 when all the plants in every pillars started to flower then we started to collect data.  This is the second year of the experiment. Data were recorded from each unit plot and analyzed statistically through the computer software MSTAT-C.

All the parameters were varied significantly under study among the treatments. By considering growth, yield, yield contributing characters and qualitative characters the treatments P3 and P1­ performed far better from the other treatments. However, in the first year P1 performed better than P3 in respect of yield but this year P3 performed better. Therefore, the experiment can be repeated for further study in the next year for the confirmation of the data.
