The experiment was conducted at the research field of Pulses Research Centre, Regional Agriculture Research Station, Ishurdi, Pabna during 2018-19 to find out optimum rates of boron for growth and yield of blackgram. The experiment was laid out in RCBD with three replications. The trial consisted of nine nutrient treatments such as such as T1= P0Zn0;T2= P0Zn2; T3= P0Zn4;T4= P20Zn0;T5=P20Zn2; T6= P20Zn4;T7= P40Zn0;T8= P40Zn2;and T9= P40Zn4.The experiment was designed as a randomized complete block with three replications. The unit plot size was 4m×3m. Nutrients P and Zn were supplied from TSP and Zinc sulphate. No significant difference was observed in pod length and seed/pod among the treatment which respectively ranged from 4.4 - 4.39 cm and 5.73-6.33. The highest seed yield was recorded in treatment T9 (1930 kg/ha) followed by T8 and T7 and (T2) produced the least (1058 kg/ha). A significant difference was observed in stover yield among the treatment. Application of Zn and P might influence the yield of blackgram to achieve a higher yield without any statistical significance. From the results, it was obvious that the application of Zn @ 4 and P 40 kg ha-1 increased the yield substantially.

The present experiment has undertaken the requirement of P and Zn on the growth and yield of blackgram.

 

The experiment was conducted at the research field of Pulses Research Centre, Regional Agriculture Research Station, Ishurdi, Pabna during 2018-19 to find out the optimum P and Zn fertilizer for yield and quality of black gram under rain-fed in High Ganges Floodplain soil. The initial soil samples were collected from the experimental plot from a depth of 0-15 cm and were analyzed in the laboratory following standard methods. Initial values of some important chemical parameters of the soil of the experimental field are presented in table 3.10. The trial consisted of nine nutrient treatments such as such as T1= P0Zn0;T2= P0Zn2; T3= P0Zn4;T4= P20Zn0;T5=P20Zn2; T6= P20Zn4;T7= P40Zn0;T8= P40Zn2;and T9= P40Zn4.The experiment was designed as a randomized complete block with three replications. The unit plot size was 4m×3m. Nutrients P and Zn were supplied from TSP and Zinc sulphate. All fertilizers should be applied broadcast before sowing. The variety was BARI Khashari3. Blackgram was sown on 10 August 2018 maintaining a seed rate of 35-40 kg/ha. Seeding was done with the broadcasting method. Intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. Blackgram was harvested on 25 November 2018. Data on seed yield were collected from the whole plot and stover data were counted from 2 square meters but all the yield components namely: plant height, pod length, number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod, and 1000 seed weight were collected from ten plants selected randomly from each unit plot. Collected data were statistically analyzed through MSTAT-C package. Economic analysis was calculated. In this study, BCR was calculated for a hectare of land. Treatment-wise management cost was calculated by adding the cost incurred for labours and inputs for each treatment. The total yield after each harvest was calculated separately for every treatment and accumulated at the end of the final harvest. The total yield of each treatment was converted for determining yield (t/ha). This yield was utilized to calculate the gross return. This was measured by multiplying the total yield by the unit price of blackgram at that time. Net return was calculated by subtracting management cost from gross return. The result revealed that except days to flowering, days to maturity did not differ significantly among the treatments. Days to flowering ranged from 36-38 days. The highest number of pod/plant was found from treatment T5 (P @ 20 kg ha-1 and Zn @ 2 kg ha-1). No significant difference was observed in pod length and seed/pod among the treatment which respectively ranged from 3.0 - 4.38 cm and 4.73-3.38. The highest seed yield was recorded in treatment T9 (kg/ha) followed by T8 and T7  and (T2) produced the least (1058 kg/ha). No significant difference was observed in stover yield among the treatment. Application of Zn and P might influence the yield of blackgram to achieve a higher yield without any statistical significance. From the results, it was obvious that the application of Zn @ 4 and P 40 kg ha-1 increased the yield substantially  The highest gross return (Tk.135100 ha-1) and gross margin (Tk 110580 ha-1) were obtained from treatment T9. Total variable cost (Tk. 24520 ha-1) was highest in T9 treatment. The benefit-cost ratio (BCR) was also highest (5.51) in T9 treatment. The gross margin in T9 treatment increased by 24% over the control (T1) treatment. From the result, it may be concluded that treatment T9 (P @ 40 kg ha-1 and Zn @ 4 kg ha-1) may be considered as economically profitable and optimum fertilizer dose for yield maximization of black gram production in High Ganges River Floodplain soil (AEZ # 11).
