The experiment was carried out at the Pulses Research Sub-Station, BARI, Joydebpur, Gazipur and Regional Agricultural Research Station, Jamalpur during rabi 2012-2013 to determine the seed rate and effect of walk ways in the relay crop of pea with aman rice. The result revealed that plants/m2 increased with the seed rates and it was highest in S3 (80 kg seed ha-1) in both locations, although plant population at Joydebpur was much lower than Jamalpur because of less germination due to moisture stress. However this seed rate (S3) produced the highest pod yield of 2.52 t ha-1 and 3.21 t ha-1 at Joydebpur and Jamalpur, respectively. The higher yield of Jamalpur was mainly due to higher plant population, taller plants and more no. of pods/plant (Table16). Walking way facilities produced higher yield over control. The treatment combination, S3W2 produced the highest pod yield of 2.67 t ha-1 and 3.31 t ha-1 and fodder yield of 4.68 t ha-1 and 4.83 t ha-1 at Joydebpur and Jamalpur, respectively (Table 17) Maximum gross margin of TK. 38230 t ha-1 and Tk 55,570 ha-1 and BCR of 1.95 & 2.30 were obtained from the same treatment combination at Joydebpur and Jamalpur, respectively.

To determine the seed rate and effect of walk ways in the relay crop of pea with aman rice.
The experiment was conducted at the Pulses Research Sub-Station, BARI, Joydebpur, Gazipur and Regional Agricultural Research Station, Jamalpur during rabi 2012-2013 to to determine the seed rate with or without path facilities during the harvesting of field pea variety suitable for relay cropping in the aman rice field.. The three seed rates (50 kg ha-1, 65 kg ha-1 and 80 kg ha-1) were assigned in the main- plot while walking way in the field 2m apart. And control were assigned in the sub-plot as a treatment. Unit plot size was 5m × 4m. Seeds were sown in the existing rice field before 10 days of T.aman harvest as relay crop on 2 and 9 November 2012 at Jamalpur and Joydebpur, respectively. T.aman was harvested leaving 30 cm straw height from the ground level. No weeding was done during the whole crop growing period. Pods were harvested at different dated on the basis of pod maturity as a green pod. Pods were harvested at 88 and 103 days after sowing on 28.01.2013 and 12.02.2013 dated only 2-3 days keeping in hand preparing the land for boro transplantation. Ten plants were selected randomly from each plot before harvest of crop to record data on yield attributes while Pod yield was collected on the Whole plot basis at different day’s interval when bearing pod was matured as a green pod. Collected data were analyzed statistically and mean separation was done as per LSD test at 5% level of significance. All the production cost was also recorded. The experiment of PRC was damaged due to water logging by the leakage of side experiment’s irrigation water.
Annual research of ACIAR-Project,PRC,BARI,Ishurdi,Pabna,2012-2013
Twenty thousand only
It was found that,80 kg/ha seed rate with walking way, after 2 m interval is suitable for relay cropping pea for green pod production and harvesting.
