The green chilli value chain consists the different actors like producer, input dealer, farm labourer, vehicles puller, faria, bepari, arathdar, paiker, reailer, and consumer.Average gross margin and net return of green chilli were Tk.1,21,315 and Tk.92,250 respectively. The benefit cost ratio (BCR) for green chilli was 1.64, which indicated that chilli cultivation is profitable in the study areas. Value addition of the faria, bepari, arathdar, paiker, local retailer and urban retailer (Dhaka) were Tk.224, Tk.382, Tk.120, Tk.204, Tk.340 and Tk.513 per quintal respectively. In terms of value post harvest loss at farm level and traders level like faria, beparies, arathdar, local retailer, and urban retailer (Dhaka) are Tk.82.5, Tk48.1, Tk.135, Tk.67.5, Tk.49, Tk.132.5 and Tk.180 respectively.The net value addition per quintal of green chilli at farm level and intermediaries’ level was Tk.1105.25 for farmers, Tk.175.90 for faria, Tk.247 for bepari, Tk.155 for paiker, Tk.207.5 for local retailer and Tk.333 for urban retailer (Dhaka).The benefit cost ratio (BCR) of dry chilli is1.67, which indicates that dry chilli cultivation is profitable in the study areas.In terms of value post harvest loss at farm level and traders level like like faria, bepari, arathdar, paiker, retailer(dry), company agent , agro-processing industry(BD foods Ltd.) and retailer(powder) are Tk.265.50, Tk189, Tk., Tk.362, Tk.72.5, Tk.155 Tk.340, Tk.787, Tk.2970 and Tk.1320 per quintal respectively. The net value addition per quintal of dry chilli and its processing at farm level and intermediaries’ level was Tk.4374 for farmers, Tk.355 for faria, Tk.971 for bepari, Tk.579 for paiker, Tk.1057 for retailer (dry) Tk.1,321 for company agent, Tk.4231 for agro-processing industry, Tk.3397 for retailer(pouch pack), Tk.1743 for local processor/miller, Tk. 1,804 for retailer (powder) and Tk. 83.75 for arathdar.
