The efficacy of different botanicals and chemical insecticides were tested against cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon (Hufner) at TCRC field of Joydebpur during potato growing season of 2010-11. The lowest no. of hole per tuber (1.40) was recorded from Furadan 5G at planting time+ Chloropyriphos 20EC at 45 DAP treated plots. Similar result was also found for no.of damage tuber and the weight of damage tuber.
Management, Potato, Cutworm
Pest Management
To find out the effective management approach for controlling potato cutworm.
The experiment was conducted at Tuber Crops Research Centre, Joydebpur. The experiment was set at 25.11.2010 and laid out in a randomized complete block design(RCBD) with three replications. The unit plot size was 3m x 3m maintaining spacing 60cm x 25cm . Fertilizer were used at per recommended doses . Irrigation was given twice. Seven treatments were used viz T1=Furadan 5G @ 20 kg/h at planting time, T2=T1+Furadan 5G @ 20 kg/h at 50 DAP, T3= T1 + Chloropyriphos 20 EC @ 5 ml/L water at 45 DAP and 2nd application 10 days after 1st application, T4= Neem oil cake @ 300 kg/h at planting time, T5= T4 + Chloropyriphos 20 EC @ 5 ml/L water at 45 DAP and 2nd application 10 days after 1st application, T6= T1 + Topdressing of urea mixed with Chloropyriphos 20 EC at 30 DAP (15 ml Chloropyriphos 20 EC mixed with 1 kg urea), T7= untreated control. The crop was harvested on 27.02.11. After harvest data on the percent of tuber damage and non-infested by number and weight and yield of tubers, no.of hole/damage tuber were collected and analyzed statistically.
Annual Report-2010-11
40,000/-
