Observational Trail (ot) of Homogeneous for Morpho-agronomic Characters.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Objective of this study was to select lines homogeneous for morpho-agronomic characters having early seedling emergence, good seedling vigor, short growth duration and tolerance to lodging. Dry direct seeding was done in the field having sufficient soil moisture for germination. Twenty-two entries showed homogeneity of morpho-agronomic traits and desirable for direct seeded upland rice

Objectives:

To select lines homogeneous for morpho-agronomic characters having early seedling emergence, good seedling vigor, short growth duration and tolerance to lodging.

Methodology:

The trail was consisted of 64 entries. Dry direct seeding was done in the field having sufficient soil moisture for germination. It was a non-replicated trail and the unit plot size was 5 m x 4 rows with spacing of 25 cm within the row. Weeding and fertilizer applications were done as in experiment 5.3. BR21, BR24, BRRI dhan42 and BRRI dhan43 were used as standard checks after every 10th entry.

Achievement/Findings:

Twenty-two entries showed homogeneity of morpho-agronomic traits and desirable for direct seeded upland rice, which were selected to initiate yield trail. It is important to note the selected entries were superior in one or more traits over the standard checks.
