Results showed significant variations all the characters except plant height. The mutant LM-95-3, LM-69-10 and LM-115-7 produced higher number of pods per plant. The mutant LM-95-3 produced higher seed weight among the mutants and the check variety. At Ishurdi, mutants LM-95-3 produced significantly the highest seed yield (1840 kg/ha) followed by LM-115-7, LM-69-10 and LM-37-8. At Magur, mutant LM-95-3 produced higher seed yield among the mutants and the check variety. But, the mutant LM-95-3 produced higher in average seed yield and number of pods/plant than check variety.

Development of varieties with bolder seed, earliness, higher seed yield with improved nutritional quality and resistance/tolerance to rust, root rot and blight

Four mutants along with the check variety, BARI masur-4 were put into a zonal yield trial at Ishurdi and Magura. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Unit plot was 5 m x 3 m. Distances between rows and plants were 30 cm and 5-6 cm, respectively. Plant height, number of primary branches/plant, days to maturity, number of pods/plant, 100-seed weight and seed yield (kg/ha) were recorded from randomly selected 10 plants of each plot.
