Evaluation of Yield Performance of Some Advanced Rice Lines with Different Ages of Seedling in Aman Season

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The results revealed that the mean grain yield of BRRI dhan31 was the highest (4.23 t ha^-1) and it was followed by Y-1281(3.71 t ha^-1). The 30 day-old seedlings had the highest mean yield (3.67 t ha^-1) and it was closely followed by 20 day-old seedling irrespective of variety/advanced lines. The interaction results showed that BRRI dhan31 with 30 day-old seedling produced the maximum yield of 4.65 t ha^-1. Among the advanced lines, the grain yield of Y -1281 was maximum with 40 day-old seedlings (4.00 t ha^-1).

The objective was to evaluate the yield performances of these lines as affected by different ages of seedling

Methodology:

Three advanced rice lines and two check varieties were evaluated with four ages of seedling during aman season. The advanced rice lines were Y-1281 (V1), RD-25’86 (V2), TNDB-100 (V3) and the check varieties were BRRI dhan31 (V4) and Binadhan-4 (V5) and the age of seedlings were 50, 40, 30 and 20 day old. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications.

Achievement/Findings:

Three advanced rice lines viz., Y-1281, RD-25’86 and TNDB-100 and two check varieties e.g. BRRI dhan31 and Binadhan-4 were evaluated with four seedling ages viz., 50, 40, 30 and 20 days during the Aman season of 2005. The advanced rice line Y-1281 produced the highest grain yield among the other lines but lower than the check. The yield of the rice line Y-1281 with 30 and 40 day-old seedlings were 4.00 and 3.66 t ha^-1.
