The experiment was carried out in Calcareous Low Ganges River Floodplain soil (AEZ 12) at Pulses Research Sub-Station, Madaripur during kharif I, 2007 to 2009. The objective of the study was to find out t  he better nutrient management practice which minimize yield reduction of mungbean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek). d  d There were four treatments viz. T1= Fertilizer dose for high yield goal (N15P18K10S5Zn0.5B0.5), T2= Fertilizer dose for medium yield goal (N15P18K9S5),T3= Farmer’s traditional practice (N23P30K15) and T4= Control (Native nutrient). The experiment was laid out in RCBD with three replications. Results revealed that the treatment T1 produced the highest grain yield (2029 kg/ha), (1812 kg/ha) and (1598 kg/ha) in the year of 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively followed by T2  (1859 kg/ha), (1778 kg/ha) and (1330 kg/ha). The treatment T4 produced the lowest grain yield (956 kg/ha), (942 kg/ha) and (859 kg/ha).The economic analysis revealed that the highest BCR (3.14) was recorded in T1 while the lowest BCR (2.70) which was recorded in T3 followed by T4 (2.71). The soil analysis results also revealed that the highest amount of organic matter and total nitrogen, P, S, Zn, B were found in T1 treatment.  So, the management practices T1= Fertilizer dose for high yield goal (N15P18K10S5Zn0.5B0.5) might be considered as suitable for sustaining soil fertility and minimize the yield reduction of mungbean.

To find out the better nutrient management practices which minimize yield reduction of mungbean.

An experiment was carried out in Calcareous Low Ganges River Floodplain soil (AEZ  12) at Pulses Research Sub-Station (PRSS), Madaripur during kharif  2007 to 2009.  Before setting the experiment, soil samples were collected from 0-15 cm depth and chemical properties of initial soil samples of the experimental plots were determined. There  were  four  treatments viz.T1= Fertilizer dose for high yield goal (N15P18K10S5Zn0.5B0.5), T2= Fertilizer dose for medium yield goal (N15P18K9S5), T3= Farmer’s traditional practice (N23P30K15) and T4=Control (Native nutrient). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The plot size was 4 m X 2.8 m with 40 cm X 10 cm spacing. Seeds were sown in the rows manually on 10 March, 2007, 09 March, 2008 and 15 March, 2009. Fertilizer doses were selected on the basis of Fertilizer Recommendation Guide (BARC, 2005) for treatment T1 & T2. Fertilizer dose in treatment T3 was selected based on farmer’s practice. Full amounts of fertilizers were applied in the respective plot basis as per treatment. First weeding was done at 20 DAS and second weeding was done at 35 DAS.Two sprayed with fungicide (Bavistin 0.2%) at 10 days interval. First fungicide was sprayed at 30 DAS. Four sprayed with insecticide ( Karatee, Cythrin and Sobicron) at 7 days interval in the treatment of T1 & T2. First insecticide was sprayed at 20 DAS. Two times insecticide (Karatee, Cythrin) were done in the treatment of T3. No fungicide and insecticide were used in T4. The crop was harvested within 08 May to 20 May, 2007, 06 May to 20 May, 2008 and 12 May to 23 May, 2009. Data on yield contributing characters and MYMV disease infestation (1-9 scoring scale) were recorded from 10 randomly selected plants from each plot. Grain yield (kg/ha) were recorded from the whole plot. Post harvest soil samples were collected from 0-15 cm depth in the same plots and chemical properties of soil samples of the experimental plots were determined. The data were analyzed statistically by using M STAT computer package.

The tested nutrient management practices were showed variation in yield and yield contributing characters of munmgbean. It was observed that the mungbean crop was influenced by different  nutrient management practice in respect of plant height, pod length, pods/plant, seeds/pod, 100-seed wt. and seed yield (kg/ha).The yield and yield contributing characters of mungbean were affected with different fertilizer management treatment combination. The fertilizer management practice (N20P20K20S10Zn2) showed higher seed yield (1214 kg/ha) (Biswas et al 2009).The concentration of N,P,K,S,Zn nutrients influenced on mungbean dry matter weight, plant height, pod length, pods/plant, seeds/pod and 1000 grain weight. From the two years (2007 and 2008) trials were performed better grain yield and yield contributing characters compared to the trial of 2009.These yield and yield contributing characters might be varied due to change the temperature & rainfall. The rainfall from February to June of 2007, 2008 and 2009 were ranged 34 mm – 549 mm, 16.00 mm - 262 mm and 0.0 – 266 mm respectively. It may be concluded from the three years trials that the treatment T1= Fertilizer dose for high yield goal (N15P18K10S5Zn0.5B0.5) was the best management practice due to enhance soil fertility and economically benefit. Therefore, it was also minimized the yield reduction of mungbean.
