Studies on the Environmental and Bioengineering Properties of Jute Products

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Germination of paddy seeds started from the fifth day or sowing while germination of wheat seeds started from the fourth days. Almost 1005 germination took place within 5/6 days.Almost uniform growth of the seedling were found in both the beds and within 15/16 days both the beds look a very green colour and they were looking fine.

Objectives:

To determine the effect of jute and jute products on water, soil, as regards to microbiological and agricultural activities.

Methodology:

Two hard boards of the size 33’’ X 33” taken in order to sow paddy & wheat seeds.Netteted types of jute geotextiles (JGT) of the size 30” X 30” were placed on each of the hard boards. Then jute wastes were spread uniformly on each of them. Paddy and wheat seeds were sown uniformly on the jute wastes of each bed. Then each seed bed were covered with one netted type of JGT of the same size. Both seed beds were put in one corner of the room of the laboratory . Then amount of water added to both the beds and room temperature were recorded.
