Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted during the year 1991-1992 at Bangladesh Jute Research Institute Dhaka, Yarn and Fabric Products Department. The aim of the works was made for the study of dielectric properties of jute materials. A pair of parallel plate capacitor has been made by pasting alluminium foils with wooden base. All preliminaries have been made ready and some test readings have been taken which are not given in this report because of some complicacy for current measurement in the circuit. This method of determination of the dielectric constant will ensure the accurate results for all types of fabrics.

Achievement/Findings:

The measurements of dielectric properties will ensure the end use of jute materials in the field of its electrical utilization, such as a covering on electrical cables or as dielectric material in electrical storage. If the dielectric constant can be raised to a higher value by suitable treatment, the jute material will have a vast field as dielectric substance in electrical use.
