Collection of Random Samples of Different Quality to Examine Relationships Between Fiber Structure and Spinning Quality.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Random samples of different quality collected and examined the relationships between fiber structure and spinning quality. From the study of cross section it was observed that the different shapes of cross-section of each grade of jute were as square/circular like, rectangular like, and irregular. Finally it was observed from the above examined samples that the quality ratios were higher value which contain more number of cells in each large cross-section of the samples.

Objectives:

To compare the random samples of different quality and microscopic examination and analysis of data to examine relationships between fiber structure and spinning quality.

Methodology:

The samples were collected from only those baise which were opened in experimental spinning Mills. About sixty lbs of jute fibers were taken from each of the grades BWA, BWB, BWC, and BWD. A number of reeds of jute were taken out randomly from each collected grade of sample for microscopic study and the remaining part was kept apart for measuring spinning quality. A rather thick brass plate of approximately the same size as the method suggested by A. Woolhaf. The cross sections were examined in situ almost exclusively in reflected light using as compared to the usual method of examination in transmitted light. Each grade of jute fiber under investigation was processed separately under standard processing conditions.

Achievement/Findings:

From the study of cross section it was observed that the different shapes of cross-section of each grade of jute were as square/circular like, rectangular like, and irregular. It was seen that the shape of Square/circular like in percentage of following samples of jute BWB, BWD and BWC were 47, 41, and 38 respectively and their corresponding quality ratio values in percentage are found to be 108.00, 101.00, and 89.45. The average number of cells per cross section was near about 8.5 for the grades of BWA, BWC, and BWD but their respective quality ratio are not found in same case. The average number of cells per small cross section was near about 6.5 for four grades.
