Results  showed significant variations all the characters. It was observed from results that plant height ranged from 34.5 cm to 38.6 cm. The days to maturity ranged from 107.3 to 116 days for mutants while it was 116 days for mother variety BARI masur-4. The mutants LM-24-3, LM-67-5, and LM-14-2 produced higher number of pods per plant. The mutants LM-67-5 and LM-24-3 produced higher seed yield at all locations and also in average of all locations indicating these mutants are more stable. Moreover, these two mutants had higher number of pods per plants and matured 6 and 8 days earlier than the parents.

Development of varieties with bolder seed, earliness, higher seed yield with improved nutritional quality and resistance/tolerance to rust, root rot and blight

Nine mutants along with check variety, BARI masur-4 were put into preliminary yield trial at Magura, Ishurdi and Jamalpur. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Unit plot was 4 m x 1.5 m. Distance between rows and plants were 30 cm and 5-6 cm, respectively. Plant height, number of branches/plant, days to maturity, number of pods/plant and seed yield (kg/ha) were recorded from randomly selected 10 plants of each plot.
