Results  showed that significant variations were present in all the characters. It was observed from results that plant height ranged from 32 cm to 42 cm. The days to maturity ranged from 102 to 116 days for mutants while it was 116 days for mother variety of BARImasur-4. The mutant LM-132-6, LM-67-5 and LM-48-1 produced higher number of pods per plant. In Ishurdi, mutants LM-132-6 produced significantly the highest seed yield (1890 kg ha-1) followed by LM-67-5 and LM-48-1. The mutants LM-132-6 and LM-67-5 produced significantly the highest seed yield at Magura. But in average, the mutant LM-132-6 and LM-67-5 produced significantly the highest seed yield.

Development of varieties with bolder seed, earliness, higher seed yield with improved nutritional quality and resistance/tolerance to rust, root rot and blight

Ten mutants along with two check varieties, Binamasur-2 & BARImasur-4 were put into preliminary yield trial at Ishurdi and Magura. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Unit plot was 4 m x 1.5 m. Distances between rows and plants were 30 cm and 5-6 cm, respectively. Plant height, number of primary branches/plant, days to maturity, number of pods/plant and seed yield (kg ha-1) were recorded from randomly selected 10 plants of each plot.

Out of ten mutants, two mutants showed promising in respect of number of pods/plant and seed yield.
