Field evaluation of 15 yard long bean germplasm viz., BD-1513, BD-1564, BD-1597, BD-3063, BD-3075, BD-3078, BD-3087, BD-3088, BD-3093, BD-3095, BD-3097, BD-3099, BD-3101, BD-3103 and BD-3104 were conducted at the experimental field of Entomology Section, HRC, BARI, Gazipur during May to August 2009 at HRC, BARI, Gazipur. All the tested lines showed highly resistant to leaf miner. But yard long bean line BD-3095 showed tolerance reaction against pod borer. Therefore, the lines could be evaluated further for confirmation of the present result.

To screened out different yard long bean germplasm resistance to pod borer, E. enejus and leaf miner.

A field experiment was conducted at the experimental field of Horticulture Research Centre of BARI, Gazipur during 2009 to 2010. The experiment was laid out in RCB design with three replications. Fifteen  lines viz., BD-1513, BD-1564, BD-1597, BD-3063, BD-3075, BD-3078, BD-3087, BD-3088, BD-3093, BD-3095, BD-3097, BD-3099, BD-3101, BD-3103 and BD-3104. The unit plot size was 2.5m x 1.5m. No insecticides were applied against the pod borer and leaf miner during the entire study period. The data were collected from five randomly selected plants. Number of healthy and infested leaves and pods were recorded and percent leaf and pod infestation was calculated. A rating system was developed
