Nursery diseases of nine different selected fruit species viz. Mango , Litchi, Jujube, Jackfruit, Guava, Lemon, Banana, Papaya and Coconut were investigated in 14 different locations viz. Mymensingh, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Jhenaidah, Moulovibazar, Jessore, Bogra, Rangpur, Modhupur (Tangail), Faridpur, Ramgorh, Khagrachari, Sharupkathi, Savar and Gazipur. Altogether 94 nurseries were investigated. Diseases of fruit species in the nurseries were recorded and surveillance of nursery diseases of fruit species were investigated. In mango 8 different diseases (anthracnose, bacterial leaf spot, red rust, powdery mildew, scab, bacterial leaf blight, malformation and die-back), in litchi 4 diseases (leaf spot, leaf blight, die-back and red rust), in jujube 2 diseases (leaf spot and leaf blight), in jackfruit 2 diseases (leaf spot and leaf blight), in guava 4 diseases (leaf spot, leaf blight, red rust and anthracnose), in lemon 4 diseases (leaf spot, die-back, scab and canker), in coconut 2 diseases (leaf spot and bud rot), in papaya 3 diseases (damping off, leaf spot and leaf curl) and in banana 3 diseases (leaf spot, sigatoka and bunchy top) were recorded. Among the 32 recorded diseases in the nurseries of fruit species leaf blight of mango and leaf blight of litchi were first time recorded in Bangladesh, where the disease causal organism was identified as Pseudomonas syringae pv. Syringae by challenge test as well as by biochemical tests. . Relationship of weather data on incidence and severity of different diseases of fruit species viz. anthracnose of mango, red rust of mango, bacterial leaf blight of mango and malformation of mango; leaf blight of litchi, and die-back of litchi; leaf spot of jujube and bacterial leaf blight of jujube; leaf spot of jackfruit; anthracnose of guava; die-back of lemon and canker of lemon; damping off papaya, leaf curl of papaya and papaya mosaic; leaf spot of coconut and bud rot of coconut and sigatoka of banana were studied.
