The Twenty Seventh International Rice Tungro Nursery (irtn2010)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Eighty five entries supplied from IRRI along with one susceptible local check Purbachi and one resistant local check Kumragoir were tested under field condition against Rice Tungro Virus to identify genotypes with durable resistance against the viral disease. Each variety was transplanted in the field in a 2 meter long row. The susceptible variety Purbachi were inoculated and transplanted to the boarder of the plot prior to the entries to provide enough inoculum. During transplanting susceptible variety Purbachi were planted between entries and after every 10 entries resistant variety Kumragoir was planted. Management practices were followed as per BRRI recommendation. The score of tungro infected plants were taken. Among eighty three entries only twelve entries showed resistant reaction against RTV disease. Rests of the entries were susceptible in Bangladesh condition.
