Assess the Spinning Quality of the Fiber Supplied and Measurement of Fiber Bundle Strength.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The samples were collected from the Biochemistry department in morah form. In each morah, there were about 500 reads which were used for three experiment named fineness, bursting energy and bundle strength. Samples supplied were small in quantity and moreover, most of the samples were lacking of specification for which a great deal of work was left undone.

Objectives:

To measure the spinning quality of raw jute and relate this to the strength characteristics of different count of yarn.

Methodology:

Method of collection of samples: - There was no scope of selection of bales. The samples were collected from the Biochemistry department in morah form. In each morah, there were about 500 reads which were used for three experiment named fineness, bursting energy and bundle strength. Method of Measurement: Bundle Strength was determined by Pressley Fibre Bundle Strength tester using zero gauge length. The flat bundle approx ¼ inch in width and hold by a pair of clamps. All protruding end of fibre were shared off even with the outer face of clamps. Tension was applied to separate the clamps and there by rapture the fiber. After breaking the bundle was taken from the clamps and weighed by Precision Balance. The strength was measured from the middle of the jute reeds. The resulting strength was calculated from the breaking load and their linear density of the specimen.

Samples supplied was small in quantity and moreover, most of the samples were lacking of specification for which a great deal of work was left undone. That is why no conclusion can be done. So proper measurements in this regard should be taken for the future work.
