Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Objective of this study was to determine the general and specific adaptability of the promising materials at different regional stations. Four promising breeding lines were tested at four locations. The mean yield of genotypes were very similar to standard check but grain properties were superior to BRRI dhan32. Therefore, these lines were considered for farmers field evaluation.

Objectives:

To determine the general and specific adaptability of the promising materials at different regional stations.

Methodology:

Four promising breeding lines were tested at four locations. The units plot size of the trails was 5.4m x 12 rows and the field layout was RCB with three replications. Thirty day old seedlings were transplanted using 2/3 seedlings per hill with a spacing of 25 x 15 cm. Fertilizers @ 50:20:10 kg NPK/ha were used.

Achievement/Findings:

The trail at Comilla was damaged at the seedling stage due to submergence. All the genotypes had more than 20 cm shorter stature than the check varieties BRRI dhan32. This shortness of plant height makes them much stronger than the check in respect to lodging tolerance. Further more, all the test genotypes had similar growth duration to the check variety. The mean yield of genotypes were very similar to standard check but grain properties were superior to BRRI dhan32. Therefore, these lines were considered for farmers field evaluation.
