Effect of New Insecticides Against Jute Hairy Caterpillar Under Field Condition .

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was carried out at JAES, Manikgang and BJRI H/Q during the year 2012.Twenty four new insecticides were tested against jute hairy caterpillar in the field of JAES and Central station.. At JAES O-9897 was grown in 2.1m x 2m plot following RCBD (Randomized Complete Block Design) with three replications at Manikganj and Central station, Dhaka. G-Sar 45 E C, Defence 5SG, Eser 45SC, Jarda 20SP, Shicol 5SG, Conpid 70WG, King Gold 48EC, Biomectin 5WDG, Noclaim 5WDG, Limectin 5SG, Superfos 48EC, Barud 5WDG, Proctin 5WDG, Fast 5%SG, Boss 5SG, Aclaim 5SG, Emactin 5SG, Onion 5SG, Eben 5SG, Kaman 5SG, Macben 5SG, Tenet 5SG, Ritha 60WDG, Bizly 60WDG were found effective for controlling jute hairy caterpillar giving more than 81.78 % reduction of infestation in JAES, Manikganj and Central station at 7th day after spray. At Manikganj, highest reduction of infestation (94.02 %) was recorded in Biomectin 5WDG that was similar with all insecticides @ their respective doses. At Central Station highest reduction of infestation (91.91 %) was recorded in Macben 5SG that was statistically similar with all insecticides @ their respective doses.

Objectives:

To evaluate efficacy of candidate Insecticide supplied by different pesticide companies against jute hairy caterpillar under field condition .

Methodology:

The experiment was carried out at Jute Agriculture Experiment Station, Manikgang and Central Station of BJRI. during the year 2012.Twenty four new insecticides were tested against jute hairy caterpillar in the field of JAES and Central statio G-Sar 45 E C(Spinosad), Defence 5SG (Emamectin Benzoate), Eser 45SC (Spinosad), Jarda 20SP (Spinosad 4.5%), Shicol 5SG (Emamectin Benzoate), Conpid 70WG (Imidacholorpid), King Gold 48EC (Chlopyrifos), Biomectin 5WDG (Emamectin Benzoate 5%WDG), Noclaim 5WDG (Emamectin benzoate 5 WDG), Limectin 5SG (Emamectin benzoate 5%SG), Superfos 48EC (Chlorpyrifos), Barud 5WDG (Emamectin Benzoate 5%WDG), Proctin 5WDG (Emamectin Benzoate 5%SG), Fast 5%SG (Emamectin Benzoate), Boss 5SG (Emamectin Benzoate), Aclaim 5SG (Emamectin Benzoate 5%), Emactin 5SG (Emamectin Benzoate), Onion 5SG (Emamectin Benzoate), Eben 5SG (Emamectin Benzoate), Kaman 5SG (Emamectin Benzoate), Macben 5SG (Emamectin Benzoate), Tenet 5SG (Emamectin Benzoate), Ritha 60WDG (Emamectin Benzoate 4%+Abamectin 2%) and Bizly 60WDG (Emamectin Benzoate 4%+Beta cypermethrin 2%) @ 200ml/ha, 1.5kg/ha, 200ml/ha, 500gm/ha, 1.5kg/ha, 35gm/ha, 600ml/ha, 1.5kg/ha, 300gm/ha, 1.5kg/ha, 500ml/ha, 500gm/ha, 500gm/ha, 500gm/ha, 500gm/ha, 1kg/ha, 500gm/ha, 1.5kg/ha, 1.5kg/ha, 1.5kg/ha, 500gm/ha, 500gm/ha, 250gm/ha and 250gm/ha, At JAES O-9897 was grown in 2.1m?2m plot following RCBD (Randomized Complete Block Design) with three replications at Manikganj and Central station, Dhaka. No plant protection measures were taken to facilitate the natural build up of jute hairy caterpillar population. However, normal agronomical practices for jute plant cultivation were followed. After 50 days of sowing when sufficient infestation of hairy caterpillar was built-up naturally in the field candidate insecticides were sprayed along with a standard (Hayzinon 60EC). Control plots were treated with fresh water. Data were collected before spray and at 3rd and 7th days after spray. Percent reduction of infestation were recorded from the field after 3, 7 and 10 days of spray.
