Evaluation of Time of Seeding and Variety on the Productivity of Dry Seeded Aman Rice Under Rice-wheat-mungbean Cropping Pattern

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Among different time starting from 20 June to 30 July at 10 days interval dry seeded Aman rice BRRI dhan49 gave the highest grain yield 6.05 t/ha at 30 June seeding under Rice-Wheat-Mungbean cropping pattern. While BRRI dhan33 gave highest yield (4.57 t/ha) on 30 July and BRRI dhan53 gave highest yield (4.49 t/ha) on 10 July seeding.

Objectives:

To find out suitable variety and time of seeding for dry seeded Aman rice on the productivity of Rice-Wheat-Mungbean cropping pattern

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted during Aman 2011 at the experimental farms, Gazipur. Three Aman varieties were used in the experiment viz. BRRI dhan33, BRRI dhan53 and BRRI dhan49. The varieties were direct seeded at 30 June, 10 July, 20 July and 30 July. Before seeding, non-selective herbicide was used in the field. A post-emergence herbicide (Sunrise Super) was also used at 15 DAS followed by hand weeding at 30-35 DAS.

Achievement/Findings:

BRRI dhan49 gave higher grain yield than other varieties at all seeding time. There was little relationship between time of seeding and varieties. Interestingly BRRI dhan33 gave higher grain yield at 30 July seeding than earlier seeding dates. On the other hand, BRRI dhan49 gave higher yield at earlier establishments. BRRI dhan53 gave highest grain yield at 10 July. All varieties didn't follow any specific trend at different seeding dates. BRRI dhan49 gave the highest grain yield 6.05 t/ha at 30 June seeding.
