One hundred farmers under 4 batches have been delivered training on PGR. The farmers were interested to involve in CGB and conserve biodiversity. A number of dedicated farmers were identified to continue the nurturing of crop diversity. After training, the seeds of different crops were supplied at 4 different locations and the available important PGR of the respective locations were recorded such as Lalmai, Comilla, available crops: kakrol, sesame, brinjal, yard long bean, bitter gourd, cucumber and ridged gourd, seed supply: chili (BD 2006, BD 2038), pumpkin (BD 223, BD 258), grain amaranth (BD 2358). Hoaiggapara, Banderban-available: sabarang phushi, maize, snake gourd, chilli and chukur, seed supply: ridged gourd (BD 3007), pumpkin (BD 2178, BD 2147), yard long bean (BD 3091, BD 3093, BD 1559). Chorui para, Banderban, available: cucurbitaceous vegetables, cucumber, napa shak and ‘jhum’ pumpkin, seed supply: yard long bean (BD 3091), Indian spinach (BD 4339, BD 4328, BD 4342), ridged gourd (BD 3007, BD 3032), grain amaranth (BD 8264), okra (BD 1853, BD 1860, BD 1861). Thakurgaon, available: pumpkin, ash gourd, napa shak, buck wheat, Indian spinach and cucumber, seed supply: grain amaranth (BD 8264), bottle gourd (BD 4545, BD 4536), spinach (BD 4328, BD 4329, BD 4339), pumpkin (BD 2153, BD 2183) and okra (BD 1853, BD 1860, BD 1861). Establishment of Community Genebank is a long term process. After establishment of CGB farmers will be able to protect their own PGR and it will create awareness and thereby they will understand the importance of their local traditional varieties.
