Comparative Study of Different Feeding in Breaker Card on the Quality of Jute Yarn

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted to find out the jute yarn quality with different feeding in breaker card at Spinning Department under Mechanical Processing Division, BJRI during 1998-2002. Five types of fibre named BWC, BWD, BTC+BWC, BTC and BTE were studied in respect of normal and angle process feeding in the breaker card. Results revealed that except BWC all types of fibres showed better quality ratio of yam by angle process feeding than the normal feeding system. The quality ratio of angle feed was ±3 differed from normal feed which affected the quality of the produced yam.

Objectives:

To study the different feeding effect to find out whether the angular feeding system is suitable for yarn quality or not than conventional feeding system.

Methodology:

Jute fibres, both white and tossa used were collected from Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC). Five batches each of 220 lbs of different quality of fibres viz. BWC, BWD, BTB, BTC+BWC and BTE were assorted. Each batch was softened with an application of 25% normal emulsion by weight of material and piled for 48 hour to attain the maturity (1). Each of the batches was divided into two samples and two types of feeding system were used in this experiment. One was normal or conventional feeding system and the other was angular feeding system. The conventional feeding system was available in all the jute mills where as the angular feeding system was a new idea at the feeding stage. Here, one sample was fed by normal feeding and the other was fed by angle feeding. One part was passed through all the jute processing stages i.e. Breaker card, Finisher card, 1^st, 2^ndand 3^rd drawing frame consecutively & finally spun to 276 tex (8lbs/spy) yarn on hessian spinning frame. The 2^nd part was also passed through the same processing stages but this sample was fed to breaker card at 45° angle which was finally spun into the same tex yam on the same processing spinning frame and (1 and 5). It was necessary to mention that certain dollop weight, clock length and draft constant should be fixed for both the feeding system.
