Find Out the Efficacy of New Insecticides Against Jute Hairy Caterpillar

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Experiments were conducted at CRS ( Manikganj) and in the field of Tarabo to evaluate the effectiveness of new insecticides against jute hairy caterpillar. The insecticide Riva 2.5 EC 0.08% a.i. was found effective against jute hairy caterpillar in both the test places givinng 88.7% and 89.6% mortality at CRS, Manikganj and Tarabo respectively after 72 hrs of treatment. Riva 2.5 EC @ 0.08% a.i. was recommended for grower use.

Objectives:

To evaluate new chemical insecticides against jute hairy cater pillar
To recommend jute growers for control of jute hairy cater pillar

Methodology:

Experiments were conducted at CRS ( Manikganj) and in the field of Tarabo in Randomized plot (3X 3m) with 3 replications. After sufficient infestation of hairy caterpillar build up in the field, selected insecticides Riva 2.5 EC @ 0.08% a.i. ( 1ml/L water) was sprayed along with standard insecticide Cymbush 10 EC. The control plot was remain untreated. Population of caterpillar/plot was counted before spray and % mortality was recorded after 24, 48 and 72 hrs. of treatments.
