Effectiveness of New Chemical Against Jute Hairy Cater Pillar

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Experiments were conducted at JAES, Manikganj and in the field of Tarabo in Randomized plot (3X3m) with 3 replications to evaluate the effectiveness of new insecticides against jute hairy caterpillar.The insecticide Buster 10 EC and Cypered 10 EC @ 0.5ml/lit and Hayzinon 60 EC@ 1.5/lit found effective against jute hairy caterpillar in both the test places giving about more than 86.44% mortality at Central Station, Dhaka and more than 87% mortality at JAES, Manikgonj after 72 hrs. of treatment. Buster 10 EC, Cypered 10 EC @ 550ml/ha. and Hayzinon 60 EX @ 1700ml/ha. may be recommended for grower’s use.

Methodology:

Experiments were conducted at JAES, Manikganj and in the field of Tarabo in Randomized plot (3X3m) with 3 replications. After sufficient infestation of hairy caterpillar built up in the field, selected insecticide Buster 10 EC and Cypered 10 EC @ 0.5ml/lit and Hayzinon 60 EC @ 1.5ml/lit was sprayed along with standard insecticide Cymbush 10 EC.The control plot was remain untreated. Population of caterpillar/plotwas counted before spray and % reduction was recorded after 24,48 and 72hrs of treatments.
