Exploration of Local Plantmaterials for the Control of Yellow Mite in Greenhouse

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted in the field of Central station BJRI to evaluate the local plant materials against jute yellow mite. All the tested plant materials performed better in controlling yellow mite over control. 1:20 ratio of Mehgonj showed best result followed by O-4 jute seed dust, Allamonda, Marigold and CVL-1 jute seed dust giving 65.26, 63.50, 61.11 and 60.52% mortality, respectively.

Objectives:

Methodology:

Jute plants were grown in pot at greenhouse premises.After sufficient natural infestation build up in the potted plants,different concentrations of selected plant materials were sprayed on the infested plants.The control plants were kept untreated and each treatment was replicated 4 times. Number of infested plants were recoded before spray and 3, 5 and 7 days after spray. leaf samples were collected and examined under bionocular microscope at 24, 48 and 72 hrs after spray and calculated percent mortality according to Abbot,sformula.
