The experiment was carried out at Manikgang, Monirampur and Rangpur with F8 generation of intraspecific hybrid derivatives between fibre type high yielding but prickled varieties and smooth vegetable type and studied for different characters. The treatments were 4-34/96, L-96/96, L-80/96, L-92/96, L-88/96, L-83/96, L-78/96, L-79/96, L-134/96, L-82/96, L-87/96, L-77/96, L-71/96, L-75/96 and HS-24. It was observed that none of the hybrid lines could out yield the control HS-24. However, the lines are very smooth and 12 to 82 days early in flowering. This smoothness and early maturing characteristics are of great importance in mesta breeding as to fit this crop with suitable cropping patterns.

It was observed that none of the hybrid lines could out yield the control HS-24. However, the lines are very smooth and 12 to 82 days early in flowering. This smoothness and early maturing characteristics are of great importance in mesta breeding as to fit this crop with suitable cropping patterns.
