Development of Kenaf and Mesta Breeding Materials Resistant to Leaf Mosaic Diseases and Spiral Borer

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The seeds of fifty accessions of Kenaf and 50 of Mesta were grown at JAES, Manikganj, and Faridpur in replicated plot having row of 3 meter length. After 90 days of sowing 2-3 plants from each row were uprooted at 15 days interval and examined for root-knot nematode attacks Kenaf plants mostly in August-Sept. and not a single accessions was free from nematode attacks. While mesta accessions were free from root-knot nematode attack.

Achievement/Findings:

The result showed that Kenaf plants mostly in August-September and not a single accessions was free from nematode attacks, while mesta accessions were free from root-knot nematode attack.
