Demonstration Trial of the Newly Released Variety of Kenaf Hc-95

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The newly released variety HC-95 was demonstrated at different regions of the country (Manikganj, Faridpur, Kishroeganj, Chandina, Rangpur, Patuakhali, Dinajpur, Tarabo and Monirampur) for yield and adaptability, HC-2 variety used as a control with this newly released variety. A plot of 10 decimal was divided into two equal halves. One plot of 5 decimal was used for HC-95 and the other for HC-2. The seeds of variety were sown on 2nd week of March in broadcast. Intercultural operations were done in time simultaneously for whole plots as per recommendation. The crop was harvested at 120 days after germination. The plots were located preferably at roadside. Similar set of experiment was conducted in regional stations for evaluation. Data were recorded on plant population at harvest, plant height, base diameter, green weight with leaves and without leaves, dry stick weight and dry fibre weight. It was observed that dry fibre yield of new improved variety HC-95 was 1.50 t/ha as against 1.30 t/ha in variety HC-2.

Achievement/Findings:

The result showed that the newly released variety HC-95 was demonstrated at different regions of the country (Manikganj, Faridpur, Kishroeganj, Chandina, Rangpur, Patuakhali, Dinajpur, Tarabo and Monirampur) for yield and adaptability,HC-2 variety used as a control with this newly released variety. The variety HC-95 gave higher yield at all the locations and farmer’s field compared to the control variety HC-2. Pooled mean of all the locations and farmer’s field showed higher yield of HC-95. It was also find that dry fibre yield of new improved variety HC-95 was 1.50 t/ha as against 1.30 t/ha in variety HC-2.
