Advanced Yield Trial of Kenaf

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

The experiment was conducted with this promising line CPI-72126 along with recommended cultivar HC-95 at JAES, Manikganj, Faridpur, Rangpur and Monirampur. Seeds were sown on 15.02.2000, 15.03.2000 and 15.11.2000 in RCBD with two replications. Data were recorded on plant population at harvest, plant height, base diameter, green weight with leaves, green weight without leaves, fibre weight and stick weight. Proper intercultural operations and agronomic practices were done for raising plants properly. The promising line CPI-72126 showed the highest value for almost all the characters specially in February sown crop showing its superiority over the control HC-95.

Objectives:

To develop a new vareity producing high biomass containing rapid growth and year round cultivation characters

Methodology:

One accession of kenaf (CPI-72126) was selected for its suitability of growing in normal as well as in winter season. The experiment was conducted with this promising line CPI-72126 along with recommended cultivar HC-95 at JAES, Manikganj, Faridpur, Rangpur and Monirampur. Seeds were sown on 15.02.2000, 15.03.2000 and 15.11.2000 in RCBD with two replications. Data were recorded on plant population at harvest, plant height, base diameter, green weight with leaves, green weight without leaves, fibre weight and stick weight.
