The seeds of 50 accessions of kenaf including HC-2 and HC-95 and 49 of mesta including HS-24 were sown on 15.3.2000 at JAES, Manikganj. Morphological characterization of both kenaf and mesta accessions were made. Only 3 lines showed tolerant response to short day but all of the accessions were later found highly susceptible to root knot nematodes. However, mesta strains were free from root-knot nematode.
