An experiment was conducted at east byde of BRRI experimental farm, Gazipur during 2005-06 to identify optimum planting time maize and potato harvesting in potato and maize intercropping system for maximizing total productivity. From this study it was found that the Potato equivalent yield (PEY) in Potato + Maize intercropping system was significantly influenced by maize planting and potato harvesting time. Higher PEY was obtained where potato was harvested 80 days after planting (DAP) and maize was inter-planted after 30 days of potato seeding. Land Equivalent Ratio (LER) (1.90) was higher for this combination.

To identify agronomically feasible and economically profitable potato maize intercropping system

An experiment was conducted at east byde of BRRI experimental farm, Gazipur during 2005-06 to identify optimum planting time maize and potato harvesting in potato and maize intercropping system for maximizing total productivity. The potato was seeding on 20 November and the maize was seeding on 30 Nov., 10 Dec., 20 Dec., and 30 Dec., respectively. The seed rate of potato and maize was 2000 kg/ha and 30 kg/ha, respectively., The experimental design was RCB with three replications. The recommended management practices and treatments adopted in this experiment.
