To find out the  effect of growth regulators on plant growth and development and increase quality of late jute seed production, an experiment was conducted in Jute Research Regional Station, Rangpur of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI) during 2003-2004. It was observed that the growth regulators Litosen and Miraculan influenced the vegetative growth of the plant. Mirakulan, Litosen and Agro-grow influenced the seed yield components and gave 30.67%, 18% and 18.66% higher seed yield than control.

To find out the effect of growth regulators on plant growth and development and increase quality of jute seed production.

The experiment was conducted at Jute Research Regional Station, Rangpur during 2003-2004 following RCB design with three replications having unit plot size 4m x3m. The variety was O-72. The seeds were sown on 15 August by broadcast method with a seed rate of 4kg/ha. There were eight treatments. The treatments were T1 =control, T2=Farty (30ml/10ml water), T3=Litosen (15ml/10ml water), T4=Okozim (10ml/10ml water, T5= Mirakulan (7ml/10ml water), T6=Planovit (15ml /10ml water), T7=Agro-grow (10ml/10ml water) and T8= Yield (1.5ml /10ml water). Recommended doses were used for growth regulators. The growth regulators were applied at pre-flowering , flowering and after flowering stages. Records on yield and yield components were taken and analyzed following standard statistical procedures.

Higher seed yield of   tossa jute in late sown crop can be obtained by applying growth regulators namely, Mirakulan, Litosen and Agro-grow.
