  1. To identify major cropping patterns and MV rice coverage under different land types.
  2. To identify variety wise coverage and yield level of MV rice.
  3. To identify major constraints to further adoption of MV rice.
  4. To identify opportunities for increasing cropping intensity and land productivity by identifying fallow period under different cropping patterns.

Information on existing cropping patterns in different land types, their area coverage, status of rice varieties in the patterns in different land types and constraints to further adoption of MV rice varieties and measures to improve cropping patterns in all upazilas of the country is necessary for the Rice Farming Systems scientists and practitioners to identify researchable issues for a specific land type and development agencies to develop plan for undertaking production program either on a commodity or on a system basis. Therefore, a study has been initiated by the Rice Farming Systems Division keeping in mind the related objectives through questionnaire. Questionnaires were sent back to RFSD, which were previously distributed to different upazilas. The information were computerized, processed and analyzed in collaboration with the scientists of Agricultural Statistics Division. Concerned scientist visited the office of Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO) to meet up any query raise by the analyst during processing and analyzing the collected data.
