Vaccination of Cattle, Goat, Chicken and Its Effect at Fsr&d Site, Moison, Kapasia

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

This study was conducted at FSR&D site, Moison block under Kapasia Upazila in collaboration with upazila livestock office during July, 2007. Objective of this study was to show the influence of vaccination towards mortality rates of poultry birds and cattle and also to create awareness of the farmers towards adoption of vaccination. Result of this study showed that the mortality rate of cattle, goat and chicken was reduced to 0, 3.3 and 4%, respectively through vaccination. Therefore, farmers were interested to vaccinate their poultry birds, goat and cattle.

Objectives:

To show the influence of vaccination towards mortality rates of poultry birds and cattle and also to create awareness of the farmers towards adoption of vaccination.

Methodology:

The program was executed at FSR&D site, Moison block under Kapasia Upazila in collaboration with upazila livestock office during July, 2007. A total of 53 cattle, 30 goats and 160 chickens of 49 households were vaccinated. RDV and BCRDV for chicken, Anthrax for cattle and PPR vaccines for cattle and goat were used, respectively. The mortality rate of the vaccinated cattle, goat and chicken were monitored and recorded.

Achievement/Findings:

The mortality rate of the vaccinated and non-vaccinated cattle, goat and chicken showed that the mortality rates of vaccinated goats and chicken were 3.33 and 4% respectively. In case of cattle there was no mortality. There has been record of severe mortality of poultry, goats and cattle also. Vaccination could help reduce mortality of livestock resources.
