An experiment was conducted at Regional Sugarcane Research Station (RSRS ) farm, Thakurgaon  in order to find out the incidence of root-knot disease in sugarcane. Nematicide Furadan 5G was used in the treated plots @ 2kg a.i. ha-1 and check/control plot of each variety were maintained. In root samples, Isd 36 variety showed the highest number of nematode (360/kg root). On the other hand, the lowest numbers of nematode (60/kg root) were found in Isd 39, I 137-03 and I 231-03. In soil samples, Isd 34 and I 137-03 genotypes showed the highest number of nematode (400/kg soil). On the other hand, the lowest numbers of nematode (40/kg soil) were found in I 231-03. From the above result the nematicide Furadan 5G @ 2kg a.i. ha-1 significantly controlled nematode in the sugarcane field.

1. To determine the extent of root-knot incidence caused by spp. in different varieties of sugarcane. 

2. To find out the resistant varieties to root-knot disease.

 

 

A field experiment was conducted at Regional Sugarcane Research Station ( RSRS ) farm, Thakurgaon during the cropping season 2009-2010 with 11 sugarcane genotype comprising commercial varieties and promising clones under zonal yield trial (ZYT) . The experiment was laid out in RCB design with three replications. Each plot size was 10m x 6m.  Nematicide Furadan 5G was used in the treated plots @ 2kg a.i. ha-1 and check/control plot of each variety were maintained. Data were collected on root knot nematode population during harvesting at the age of 12 month of sugarcane plant by collecting the root and soil samples.
