The study was conducted at Rajshahi Division. Monthly monitoring of As  (arsenic)  concentration in groundwater in the selected locations were recorded. Objectives of the study were to assess the arsenic concentration of groundwater and its variation over time and place; and to evaluate effect of arsenic load on rice yield under different water management treatments. The result reveals that the As (arsenic) level started to decrease when the monsoon started and reached at the minimum level after the monsoon. In Charghat area the highest As level (0.215 ppm) was found in Talbaria (North) during March and the lowest value (0.002 ppm) was observed in DTW at Bhatpara area during November. In Nawabganj area the highest arsenic concentration (1.536 ppm) was found in Hatathpara area during May which is an exceptionally high As contaminated area. The arsenic load was higher in continuous standing water condition than that in other two treatments. The highest load was 2.26 kg/ha in continuous standing water condition and the lowest was 1.46 kg/ha under alternate wet and dry condition. The arsenic content in straw was higher in continuous standing water condition than that in the other two treatments in both the locations. The arsenic concentration ranged from 3.84 to 5.20 ppm. The As content in grain was much below the permissible limit (1.0 ppm) and ranged from 0.428 to 0.560 ppm.  The As content was higher in shallower depth than that in deeper depth.
