On farm trial of the new breeding line of Kenaf 1641/C (KE-3) was conducted at nine stations of BJRI as well as 10 sites of farmer’s field of five locations for evaluation of yield, adaptability and suitability.  The commercial existing variety HC-95 was used as check. The new breeding line Kenaf 1641/C (KE-3) has given higher yield which was about 2.11 percent and 3.11 percent than the check variety HC-95 at BJRI stations and farmers’ field respectively. Plant population and plant height was better than the check variety. This result revealed that 1641/C (KE-3) is better than HC-95 in respect of fibre yielded.

In order to solve the jute growing problems in terms of varietal suitability for medium to medium low land and varietal compatibility with other crops in multiple cropping system in late seeding areas, a new breeding line of Kenaf 1641/C (KE-3) was cultivated at different regions of the country. The breeding line of Kenaf 1641/C (KE-3) was developed from pure line selection and the strain possesses stem red, upper surface of petiole red, leaf shape deeply lobed. The commercial existing variety HC-95 was used as a check with this new breeding line to evaluate fibre yield, quality, adaptability and overall suitability of Kenaf advanced lines at farmer’s field in different regions as well as on stations.

A plot of 10 decimal was divided into two equal halves, each portion consisted of 5 decimal. One portion was used for 1641/C (KE-3) and the other for HC-95. The seeds of both varieties were sown in end of March to 1st week of April. Proper intercultural operations and agronomic practices were done in time simultaneously for whole plots as per recommendation. The crop harvested at 120 days after germination. Data were recorded on plant population, plant height, base diameter, green weight with leaves, green weight without leaves, fibre weight and stick weight at harvesting time.
