Genotype - environment interaction and stability performance was investigated on 07 parameters with 15 spring wheat and one triticale genotypes in three environments created by different sowing dates (20 November, 3 December and 16 December). The mean squares due to genotypes (G), environments (E) and G x E interaction were significant for all the characters studied suggesting a lot of variability among the genotypes, environments as well, and the genotypes interacted significantly with environments. Therefore, profound genotype - environment interactions (P responsive for all the characters except floret fertility (%) but suitable for favourable environment only, where as AD-223 was most stable for days to anthesis, spikelet number per spike, 1000 grain weight and yield. Genotypes PYT/Mayoor and Agrani were by far the most potential considering for both favorable and unfavorable environments. Francis and Kennenberg's genotypes grouping technique showed that genotype PYT/Mayoor was most stable for all the characters except spikelet number per spike. The Env- I appeared to be the most productive and favorable; whilst Env-3 was unfavorable for most of the genotypes.

To assess stability for some selected yield contributing characters in spring wheat grown in three different sowing dates

The experiment was conducted at the experimental farm of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. Fifteen bread wheat genotypes (SAN-121=G DSN-48=G2, AD-223=G1, BA W-944=G4, KxBAS148=Gj•  Pavan=Gx, PYT/Chirya=G7,  YT/Mayor=Gg, Rawati=Ge) including 6 Wheat varietie (Kheri=Gn, Satabdi=GI2, Protiva=Gj i, Akbar=Gi«, KanchanvG«, Agrani=GI6) and one triticalef Gis) genotype were used in this study. Three cultural environments, created by differen sowing dates viz., 20 November, 3 December and 16 December were considered for the experiment. Soil of the experimental plot was sandy loam in texture and it was medium high land belonging to Old Brahamaputra Floodplain soil with pH 6.5. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with 3 replications. The plot size was 2 x 1m. Seed were sown at 20 x Scm respectively. Fertilizers were applied @ 100:60:40:20 Kg/ha. of N, P, K. Sand cowdung @ 18 ton/ha. The half of N, all of P, K, Sand cowdung were applied at the time of final land preparation. The rest of the N was top dressed in two equal splits, at maximum tillering and booting stages. The crop was irrigated two times, one at the crown root initiation stage and other at the peak tillering stage. Normal intercultural practices were followed as and when necessary. Data on different traits were recorded from 10 randomly selected plants of each genotype from each replication and subjected to analysis of stability as per method given by Eberhart and Russell (1966) and Francis and Kennenberg's genotypes grouping technique (1978). The characters studied were days to anthesis, days to physiological maturity, spikelet number per spike, floret fertility (%), grain number per spike, 1000 grain weight and yield.

Significant differences in yield were observed in case of genotypes, environments and : notype-environment interactions. These results indicate that the genotypes responded differently in different environments The results and discussion, it may be concluded that some of the genotypes used In the study were more or less stable but others were responsive and sensitive to changes in environments. Env-I (20 November sowing) appeared to be most productive and favorable; hilts Env-3 (16 December sowing) was unfavorable for most of the genotypes. Considering all me characters into account with special emphasis on yield, genotypes PYT/Mayoor and Agrani were by far the most potential genotypes for both favorable and unfavorable environments in me present study.
