The project aimed at to analyze the genetic diversity and population structure of Bangladeshi germplasm in comparison to global rice varieties, to characterize important local germplasm both Phenotypically and at molecular level and to protect the important local germplasm from any biopiracy.

  1. To analyze the genetic deversity and population structure of Bangladesh germplasm in comparison to global rice varieties.
  2. To characterize important local germplasm both Phenotypically and at molecular level.
  3. To evaluate the potential usefulness of Bangladeshi germplasm for association mapping.
  4. To protect our important local germplasm from any biopiracy.

a. Plant material: About 300 local land races of rice and BRRI released rice varieties in Bangladesh. b. Phenotypic: Phenotypic evaluation was done in RCBD with three replications. Standard management was given up maturity. Important traits required for DUS was recorded. c. Trait evaluation d. Genotyping e. Data were analysis as per requirement.
