An experiment was conducted at the Regional Wheat Research Centre, BARI, Shyampur, Rajshahi, 2011-12 with ten advance lines and two check varieties, Shatabdi and Prodip under optimum and late seeding conditions to evaluate their performance at both the sowing conditions. The experiment was laid out in a Split-plot design with three replications. Two seeding dates were placed in the main plots and genotypes in the sub­ plots. The genotypes were evaluated for yield and yield contributing traits, viz days to heading, maturity, plant height, spike m-2, spikelets spike-1, 1000-grain weight, disease reaction and visual grain quality, etc. The effect of seeding date was significant for most of the traits. The highest grain yield over seeding dates was produced by BAW 1170, followed by BAW 1171, BAW 1161, BAW 1163 and BAW 1168 respectively. These genotypes produced satisfactory yields in both seeding conditions. The genotype BAW 1157 produced the highest yield in irrigated timely sowing (ITS) and irrigated late sowing (ILS) condition, though the grain size was small in ILS condition. Considering the yield and other characters, 4 genotypes, namely BAW 1161, BAW 1163, BAW1168 and BAW 1170 were found to perform better under both optimum and late sowing conditions than others. The yield reduction of the genotypes ranged from 5.32 to 27.60% under late seeding condition.

To evaluate the performance of the advance lines under irrigated timely sowing (ITS) and irrigated late sowing (ILS) condition and to estimate the yield loss due to late sowing conditions.

The trial was conducted with ten promising lines (BAW 1142, BAW 1150, BAW 1154, BAW 1157, BAW 1159, BAW 1161, BAW 1163, BAW 1168, BAW 1170 and BAW 1171), and two check varieties Shatabdi and Prodip to estimate yield loss due to late sown as well as to evaluate the performance of the genotypes both optimum and late sowing condition. The varieties Shatabdi and Prodip were used as checks. The experiment was laid out in split-plot design replicated three times, with sowing times (November 23: ITS=Irrigated Timely Sowing and December 22: ILS=Irrigated Late Sowing) were the main plot factor and genotypes were the sub-plot factor during 2011-2012. Seeds were sown continuously in 5m long 8-row plots with a row spacing of 20 cm with 60 cm between replications. Recommended fertilizers such as 100:26. 50:20:5:1 kg/ha of N P K S Zn B respectively was applied during the final land preparation with two-third urea. The rest of one-third urea was applied as top dressing during the first irrigation. Three irrigations were applied at 17 days, 55 days and 75 days after seeding. Recommended cultural practices were followed for better crop establishment. Data were recorded on different agronomic characters, diseases, sterility, 1000-grain weight and visual seed characteristics. At maturity, the middle four rows five meter long were harvested to estimate grain yield expressed as kg per hectare. The double-digit BpLB scores were converted to percent diseased leaf area (DLA). The meteorological data at the experimental site revealed that the maximum temperature at May (37.5°c) and the minimum temperature (11.50c) and the maximum rainfall was at April (4.11 mm) and the total rainfall was in the growing season. The collected data were analyzed and means were compared by LSD by Crop Stat computer based software program .
