To determine the performance of Urea Deep Placement (UDP) on the cotton yield and yield Contributing Characters, experiments were carried out at three cotton research farms located in, Sreepur, Gazipur; Jagadishpur, Jessore and Sadarpur Dinajpur during the period of 2013-14. The number of treatments were five viz. T1 = Recommended dose of nitrogen (80.5 kg N/ha) from prilled urea.T2 = Recommended dose of nitrogen (80.5 kg N/ha) from urea supper granule (USG) T3= Recommended dose of nitrogen (72.45 kg N/ha) from USG T4 = Recommended dose of nitrogen (64.40 kg N/ha) from USG and T5 = Recommended dose of nitrogen (56.35 kg N/ha) from USG. The experiment was conducted in RCBD with three replications. The interaction between treatment × locations was found significant. The highest seed cotton yield at Sreepur farm was obtained by applying prilled urea while at Jagadishpur and Sadarpur Farm the highest seed cotton yields were obtained from the USG. Economic analysis showed that the highest return (132917 Tk/ ha) was obtained from the treatment T1 (80.5 kg N/ha from prilled urea) that also gave the highest benefit to cost ratio (2.14).

To observe the performance of high yielding cotton varieties under the effect of prilled urea and urea super granules (USG) on the growth and yield of cotton and optimum levels while reduce the requirement of urea fertilizer

A experiment was conducted to Performance of Urea Deep Placement (UDP) on the Yield and Yield Contributing Characters of Cotton by Sreepur, Gazipur under AEZ No-28 (Madhupur Tract), Sadarpur, Dinajpur AEZ No. 25 (Level Barind Tract) and Jagadishpur, Jessore AEZ No. 11 (High Ganges River Flood Plain) under five treatment (prilled urea and urea supper granule) during the kharif season of 2013-14. The status of the initial soil has been presented in Table-1. The experiment was conducted in RCB design with three replications in all locations. The treatments were T1 = Recommended dose of nitrogen (80.5 kg N/ha) from prilled urea.T2 = Recommended dose of nitrogen (80.5 kg N/ha) from urea supper granule (USG) T3= Recommended dose of nitrogen (72.45 kg N/ha) from USG T4 = Recommended dose of nitrogen (64.40 kg N/ha) from USG and T5 = Recommended dose of nitrogen (56.35 kg N/ha) from USG .The experiment were set up (second week in the month of July /2013) in a plot size 4.5m × 3.6 m. Cotton variety CB-12 was used as a test material. Total amount of TSP, gypsum, zinc sulphate, magnesium sulphate, borax and one-fourth urea and one-fourth MoP were applied as basal. One granule/plant would be used as basal, 1st top dress 3 USG/plant, 2nd and 3rd top dress 2 USG/plant would be used. The rest of Urea and MoP were applied in three equal splits as top dressing at 25 DAS (Days After Sowing), 45 DAS and 65 DAS. There was 10 cm deep drain around the plot to drain out the excess rain water. All other production practices were as farm standard Yield data was recorded from middle rows and analyzed according to MSTAT.

 Plant height and boll weight which was statistically significant but Number of monopodia/plant, Number of sympodia/plant, Number of bolls/plant, and seed cotton yield were not significant. The highest plant height (115.60 cm) observed in T1 (Recommended dose of nitrogen (80.5 kg N/ha) from prilled urea.) and the lowest (104.30 cm) was in T3 (Recommended dose of nitrogen (72.45 kg N/ha) from USG) which was statistically significant. The maximum number of monopodia /plant 1.64 found in T1 treatment and minimum number found in T1 and T4 (1.28). The combined effect of USG on sympodia/plant were not significant. The highest sympodia/plant were observed 15.99 treatment T1 and T5 lowest sympodia /plant 15.20 (T3 treatment) respectively. Maximum number of boll/plant (30.39) were attained by treatment T1 and lowest number of boll/plant (26.16) were recorded by T3 treatment. Combined effect of NPKS on boll weight which was statistically significant. The highest mean boll weight of (5.83 g) was obtained with T1 and the minimum boll weight (5.54 g) was observed in T2 and T3 treatment. The highest means seed cotton yield of (3146 kg/ha) was obtained when 80.5 kg N/ha from prilled urea.
