Effect of Integrated Nutrient Management on the Growth and Yield of Tomato (lycopersicon Esculentum)

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

A field experiment was conducted at the research farm of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka, during November 2011 to March 2012 to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on the growth and yield of tomato. The maximum plant height (67.03 cm)was recorded from T₅ treatment consisting of 80 kg N/ha from Urea + 100 kg N/ha from CD and the minimum plant height (47.50 cm) was recorded from T₉ treatment i.e. control condition. The highest and lowest yield per plot 46.43 kg/ha and 26.66 kg/ha was recorded from T₅ and control treatment respectively. The maximum yield (77.39 t/ha) was recorded from T₅ treatment and the minimum yield (44.43 t/ha) was recorded from the T₉ treatment.

Methodology:

Treatment of the experiment

T₁ : 180 kg N/ha from Urea + 25 kg P/ha from TSP + 60 kg K/ha from MoP (Only inorganic)

T₂ : 155 kg N/ha from Urea + 25 kg P/ha from TSP + 60 kg K/ha from MoP + 25 kg N/ha from Cow dung (Integrated)

T₃ : 130 kg N/ha from Urea + 25 kg P/ha from TSP + 60 kg K/ha from MoP + 50 kg N/ha from Cow dung (Integrated)

T₄ : 105 kg N/ha from Urea + 25 kg P/ha from TSP + 60 kg K/ha from MoP + 75 kg N/ha from Cow dung (Integrated)

T₅ : 80 kg N/ha from Urea + 25 kg P/ha from TSP + 60 kg K/ha from MoP + 100 kg N/ha from Cow dung (Integrated)

T₆ : 55 kg N/ha from Urea + 25 kg P/ha from TSP + 60 kg K/ha from MoP + 125 kg N/ha from Cow dung (Integrated)

T₇ : 30 kg N/ha from Urea + 25 kg P/ha from TSP + 60 kg K/ha from MoP + 150 kg N/ha from Cow dung (Integrated)

T₈ : 180 kg N/ha from Cow dung (Only organic)
