This program was conducted to supply the seeds of promising clones BSRI, Ishurdi, Pabna and RSRS, Gazipur during the cropping season 2011-2012. The selected clones from PYT, AYT, ZYT-I, ZYT-II and ZYT- III were multiplied. A total of 81 varieties/clones were multiplied for seed production and 130.95 metric tons of seed canes were produced. These seed canes were used in setting of different experiments in different divisions of BSRI and in different mills farms, and for further multiplication at BSRI, Ishurdi. Under breeder seed programme, 29 promising clones were multiplied at BSRI, Ishurdi and 49.93 metric tons of seeds were produced. Under the Clean Seeds Programme, Isd 18(T2) and I 112-01 were supplied in different sugar mills of BSFIC for nucleus seed production.

1. To supply the seeds of promising clones for setting up of different experiments and for further multiplication.

2. To produce clean seed for nucleus seed program.

3. To maintain the source of clean seed of released varieties.

 

 The selected clones from PYT, AYT, ZYT-I, ZYT-II and ZYT- III (as breeder seed) were multiplied at BSRI, Ishurdi and RSRS, Thakurgaon farm. Normal cultural practices were done as per requirement. Recommended dose of fertilizers and insecticides were applied. The Pathologist and Entomologist of BSRI were inspected and clean the multiplied seed cane at different times.
